Guide to Stitching Styles for Leather Watch Straps: Minimal, Full, Closed, and Boxed

Edge Paint

At Roiberd Atelier, every detail counts. One of the most defining features of a leather watch strap is the stitching pattern. Far from being purely functional, the stitching adds character and visual identity to the strap. Below, you’ll find an overview of the four stitching styles you can choose from when customizing your strap:

Minimal Stitching

This style embodies simplicity. Stitching is applied only where it’s structurally essential: around the spring bar area and the fixed keeper. It’s the perfect choice if you’re looking for a clean, contemporary look that puts the leather front and center. Less is more.

Full Stitching

With this style, the stitching runs along the entire edge of the strap, from tip to base. It strikes a balance between elegance and artisanal detail, especially effective when paired with contrasting thread. A timeless classic that suits both modern and traditional watches.

Closed Stitching

Closed stitching features a continuous line that follows the strap’s contour but set slightly inward from the edge. This subtle design creates a more structured and refined appearance. It’s ideal for those who want something understated and neat, with an added layer of edge protection.

Closed Stitching

Boxed Stitching

The Boxed style is minimal yet distinctive. It features small stitching segments at the end of each strap piece, forming a clean “box” shape. This modern design keeps the strap functional while giving it a sleek and graphic character, perfect for a contemporary look.

Which One Should You Choose?

The right stitching style depends on your personal taste, the type of watch you wear, and the leather you’ve selected. Some patterns highlight the thread and craftsmanship, while others let the material shine on its own. As with all Roiberd Atelier pieces, each strap is made by hand with care, no matter which style you choose.
